Oscar the Weimaraner goes skiing!

Jenni over at Gnomelover recently asked: What is the best thing to happen to you this year? (By the way, she is having an awesome giveaway, and you can enter for a chance to win an Urban Outfitters gift card here).

2015 has been kind of weird. I've worked way too much. Snow conditions have been pretty dismal lately too, with frequent bouts of warm weather turning what little snow we've received into slush and mud. However, the warm weather also means that we've been able to take Oscar skiing with us. He is short-haired and usually gets cold too quickly.

If you can believe it, one thousand vertical meters of this failed to tucker him out. (If you have a Weimaraner, you already know that they have limitless energy). There is also a video of him on the uptrack on Instagram.

Next best thing of 2015? I got new ski boots (Dynafit Neo PX CR). They weigh half as much as my previous boots, which actually does translate into me going twice as fast on the uphill. I was a little nervous about getting them because I had to remount my ski bindings to accommodate them and I was worried they might not ski well on the down, but they handle pretty well. And I did a 30 km ski this weekend without any blisters. I am very pleased.

How has 2015 been for you?

  1. 2015: flying by like 2014, but so far, not bad. A new job helps. :)

I love dogs in the snow, yours looks like he's having a blast!

    1. Glad you are enjoying your new job!

  2. This made me smile! Jazzy misses the snows of Michigan. We used to live against several acres of state land, and she'd go bounding through the woods and up and down the hills. It was hilarious to watch.

I think that pausing in February to consider the best moments of the year thus far is a great idea. (Thanks, Jenni!) We reflect come the holidays, but February has us well into the new year. This time of the year, for me anyways, always drags by as I await spring. The weather's depressing, I can't go outside, I'm bored, etc. So reflecting on the positives is timely. I've already gotten to travel and cruise away to Mexico this year. That was fun. We just had friends down for the weekend and got to travel around Nashville like tourists, so that was fun. And a move isn't on the horizon for at least another year, so I like having the stability and permanence of our home here in Nashville. Would you look at that. Feeling better already. :-)

    1. Michigan! I'm sure you used to get lots of snow during the winters.

Your Mexico trip looked like a blast. Glad you are making the most of the winter.

  3. Go Oscar go! That video was so thrilling! What a happy dog!I'm going to watch it again!

I hope work lightens up for you! Nothing tires one out like too much work at work.

(For some reason this post did not update on my blogroll. I'll do some investigating to see what's up.)
